Brant weighs 6 pounds 3.5 ounces today! Mom and I got here yesterday morning and right away the nurse started going over his discharge checklist. She said it's not like he's going home tomorrow but when they do decide to send him home things move really fast so while I've got time they want to get things checked off. She had us unpack his carseat, sign consent forms for his 2 month immunizations, get a pediatrician lined up, watch a couple more videos and a few other things that I will take care of later today.
He had his immunizations last night... poor little guy. She asked if I wanted to be there when they did them and I said yes. She said "oh usually everyone leaves when we do them". I couldn't leave and think about him crying after they did them and not having anyone to snuggle him afterwards. They gave him a sugar solution right before which apparently is the equivalent to morphine for babies. I held his hands while she did them and then snuggled with him afterward until he fell asleep.
The doctor said that once he is taking all of his food by bottle they will start getting him ready to come home! yesterday he only had 2 partial bottles and last night his heart rate was too high to take a bottle. She said that was normal after immunizations. It does sound like it's a good possibility he will come home on oxygen- maybe just for when he eats but we will think about that more when we get to that point.
We didn't get the keys yesterday- there was a hold up on the sellers end with some paperwork but it sounds like they got it straightened out this morning and we have a possible closing date of Monday. Which is good, then I will be there to help move and keep things organized. I think if Darren moved everything he would just throw it all in a pile in the garage. Even after all of my work I did the other night labeling and packing things by room.
Darren, Dad, and Nicki will be coming down Sunday morning and then all of us will head back Sunday night. I will work Monday-Tuesday and maybe part of Wednesday and then head right back down again! Mom and I have to take a carseat safety class at 5 today.
2 Months old!
This thing is a MamaRoo- it's pretty cool and takes up WAY less room than a swing. It has all these different settings that mimics the way we would soothe him. Plus has nature sounds built in and has an MP3 hookup. The NICU has a few of them that they rotate between rooms. He really likes it- mom and dad ordered him one :)
This is his new set up- it makes his room seem huge! Can't believe how small it seemed when we first started out.
